What is the Circle of Friends?
The Circle of Friends is a special group of Cinema Arts Centre members who engage in specific activities that will strengthen the Cinema and help us achieve our goals. The Circle of Friends work directly with the Development Department, supporting many of the Cinema Arts Centre fundraising and membership activities, often through direct solicitation for contributions.
Activities include:
- Helping to discover and solicit new prospects for
- Program and event sponsorship
- Financial contributions
- Membership
- Helping to plan and implement special events by
- Seeking sponsorship
- Seeking auction and raffle prizes
- Seeking donations of food and refreshments
- Growing membership by
- Calling lapsed members
- Promoting the benefits of membership in our lobby and off-site at events like the Huntington Fall Festival
- As-needed office support, mailing support, research support
- Responding to requests via email to perform single tasks in the office or from home
Benefits to Circle of Friends Volunteers include:
- General volunteer days (including meetings)*:
- Free coffee/tea, fountain soda, & popcorn
- Employee pricing for anything else in the café
- Special events volunteers (including planning, solicitation, and/or event night):
- A Free Movie Pass Card for TWO regular screenings (so you can bring a friend to the movies!)
- Membership promotion in cinema lobby:
- A Free Movie Pass Cars for TWO regular screenings for every TWO shifts
- Annually:
- Invitations to special events such as Circle of Friends Garden Party and Thanks-a-Brunch
The Dr. Frank B. Siegel Memorial Service Award:
- Each year at the Circle of Friends Garden Party, one volunteer is recognized for outstanding accomplishments with a special award named in memory of Dr. Frank B. Siegel
Meetings:
- The Circle of Friends meets once each month excluding July and August; we recommend that Circle of Friends volunteers attend at least 50% of meetings and participate in at least one volunteer activity monthly. This is a guideline we ask our Circle of Friends volunteers to meet when able.
*Cafe benefits only apply when volunteers are on site in a volunteer capacity.
