David Lynch: A Celebration

In memory of legendary director David Lynch, who passed away on January 15th at the age of 78, we will be screening a selection of his most iconic films.

Lynch was known and loved for his uniquely disturbing and mind-bending works of art. He was a director of such distinctive, overpowering vision that he has inspired his own adjective, Lynchian. The works he created seem telegraphed straight from his unconscious to the screen, blending the cheerfully mundane with the shockingly macabre in a way that defies explanation. Lynch’s labyrinthine puzzle-boxes turn the American psyche inside out to reveal its deepest, darkest fears and desires.

We were fortunate to be visited by David Lynch for a special event in 2008, and his work has been a feature of Cinema Arts Centre programming for many years. Although he will be greatly missed, his contributions to the world of cinema will continue to provoke and inspire us for generations to come.

We hope you will join us to celebrate the life and work of this visionary filmmaker.
