Mondays at the Grindhouse

Emerging in urban theaters and seedy downtown circuits in the mid-20th century, grindhouse cinema is defined by raw, low-budget and sensational films - ranging from horror and action to sexploitation and splatter films. Often presented as part of double or triple features, grindhouse films were designed to shock, blurring the line between art and exploitation. With our series, Mondays at the Grindhouse, we dive into the wild world of grindhouse cinema. Once staples of 1970s and 80s theaters, these gritty, outrageous, and largely overlooked films are rarely screened today.
