The Youth Advisory Board Presents…Easy A & The Scarlet Letter

This month, the Cinema Arts Centre’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is partnering with the monthly Anything But Silent Series to screen two versions of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter.

On Sunday, April 21st at 5:00pm, the YAB will present Easy A. Starring Emma Stone, this film is about a little white lie told by a clean cut high school girl, which results in her seeing her life as a parallel to Hester Prynne’s in “The Scarlet Letter,” which she is currently studying in school – until she decides to use the rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing.

On Tuesday, April 23rd at 7:30pm, the group will present the silent film version The Scarlet Letter, with live musical accompaniment by Ben Model. If you haven’t seen a silent film screened live, this is a great opportunity to give it a shot, because we have a special price if you come to both films – $12 for members and students, $20 for the public.

The Youth Advisory Board is the Cinema’s group of volunteers aged 16-22 with a mission to make the Cinema Arts Centre more visible to Long Island’s young population. The group votes on which film to present every quarter, and they raise hundreds of dollars to bring the screening to fruition. For more information on the Youth Advisory Board, contact Richard Liebowitz, Associate Director of Development at richard@cinemaartscentre.org or 631-423-7610 x11.
