Anything But Silent
Buster Keaton’s
The Cameraman
Thursday, September 3rd at 7:30 PM
With live score by Order of the Illusive
$20 Public | $13 Members The genius of Buster Keaton is on full display in this wonderful comedy about making movies. Buster has a huge crush on Sally, an adorable office worker for MGM Newsreels. Buster gives up his tintyping job and gets himself a camera, with a new plan to catch the attention of both Sally and MGM. The novice cameraman is in the right place at the right time to capture on film a Tong war smack in the middle of Chinatown – and must narrowly escape plenty of disasters, Buster-style! In a clever meta-comment on impressing the studios, this delightful comedy was originally an MGM production. Keaton famously did his own stunts and The Cameraman is a showcase for his physical virtuosity as well as an enchantingly goofy love story. (USA, 1928, 69 min., NR, Silent with English Intertitles | Dir. Edward Sedgwick)
